Remember how stepping outside the great hollow hits, seeing the into the cool and gentle world that exists outside the reach of fire and darkness after crawling through the wastes the people had to live in to create endless, sterile shrines to the lords?

The abyss we see is the intense shadow that will fade as the flame is dispersed.

Hot take: only the og, pre-DLC dark souls story is any good. The rest is boring centrist nonsense. What even is an abyss, and why is it so boring? The 'everything is cyclical' plot is also dumb as hell.

Idk, I quite liked the recurring theme in dark souls 2 where all these kings had castles and monuments dedicated to themselves only to be forgotten in a few generations.

Once again we see that Bloodborne is infinitely superior to Dark Souls. Society has moved beyond the need for Dark Souls.
