Very good documentary on the war on poverty in China. Shows everything, the good and the bad.
Banned from airing because it was too pro-beijing.
Really interested in this. Everyone I know who's been to China focuses their criticism of the state the countryside was in (they went in the 00's). The world is facing a massive shift of people moving to the cities, and I'm really curious to see how the CCP is addressing this as well as all the inherent economic problems in agriculture (low margins, etc).
Just finished. Really fascinating stuff. I thought the "war room" which highlighted all the families in poverty with their changing economic status was really interesting. I also really liked the village meetings where people got to have their say. I didn't like some of the implications of the relocations, considering the fact that some people didn't really seem to have the choice to move and employment was scarce, but all in all very interesting.
