It’s not a single user. The instance is a safe haven for tankies. This thread is 90% them supporting the CCP. Quite a bit of it is pretty trolly, too. I’m sure you’ll find a large number of their users support Russia over Ukraine.

Who the hell wasn't supporting the CPC? xi-reactionary-spotted

Sorry, that was me. I was busy defending the honor of Soong Ching-ling and the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang.

Yes. This is how it works pretty much everywhere. Remote bans are essentially blocks which apply for all users on the instance. Only the home instance can completely disable an account.

I think in this case the best scenario would be to screenshot and post it to the_dunk_tank so we can point and laugh at them. We really should cool it with jumping into other instances' meta posts, anyway, even if they deserve it. We aren't going to change their minds; even if we only say nice things to them they'll just make something up. Let them stew in their own reactionary filth.

A little off topic, but wouldn't making posts like this (the one linked, not this post of course) made to whip up hate against Hexbear be a form of brigading? They're clearly trying to incite people against us. I'd think if we were regularly doing this sort of thing to other instances, those instances would take issue with it. And this was after he (EDIT: Sorry I shouldn't assume gender here. If only they had visible pronouns?) came over to Hexbear pretty clearly trying to pick a fight.
