The side with the most browns is against civilization don't you know

I posted that I stand with Israel because I recognize that its enemies are the enemies of civilization.

Someone replied asking in an obviously hostile way how I define "enemies of civilization", and that was followed up with the quoted sarcasm: "The side with the most browns is against civilization, don't you know."

Of course I was supposed to respond to this by scuttling away from my previous position in terror lest I be labeled a raaaacist.

This is a kind of bullying that makes me want to respond "Fuck you and the horse you rode in on!" It's never honest, it's never constructive.

So fuck you. The enemies of civilization are the side with the lower average IQ and higher average time preference. It's the side that demonstrates these traits by publishing the fewest books per capita and, oh look, rewarding itself with orgies ofremoved and murder and literally dancing in the blood of its enemies.

And yes, it's generally the side with the most browns. I am ornery about speaking the truth and I am going to say that in public, and fuck you again for trying to jerk me around with discourse taboos.

Of course anyone who isn't a moron would understand that the most-browns part isn't causal, it's accidental. The low-average-IQ part is what's essential - stupid savages behave like stupid savages because they have short time horizons and poor impulse control.

It isn't an essential truth that brown people have to be stupid savages; we can observe self-selected populations of them that aren't, usually when they emigrate out of their origin culture to live among white people or Northeast Asians. But even the emigration isn't strictly necessary; high-caste Indians manage to be pretty brown and pretty bright on average at the same time.

The racist is not the person who understands all these things. The racist is the person who jumps straight to "you must despise brown people" as the only possible reason anyone would stand with Israel.

For context, Eric S. Raymond is the author of the book The Cathedral and the Bazaar, also famous for saying advocacy groups for women in tech exist to entrap men with false SA allegation.

"Ain't nothing racist about being racist. In fact, it just creeps me out being in the same room with you, you racist pigs!"

Makes me think whether we will get similar outrage about his conduct as what happened with Stallman : thinking-about-it:

    Surely we will

I feel slightly hypocritical for saying this, but in my experience grown‐ups who gripe about ‘stupid people’ a lot don’t seem terribly sophisticated themselves.

His reply is embarrassingly longwinded. All that it does is reconfirm that he knows nothing about either Palestinian society or its oppressors. He could easily look up ‘israeli war crimes’ for himself and see how Herzlians openly, proudly glorify their own atrocities against the indigenous population… but sympathizing with the Palestinians wouldn’t be in his class’s best interest, now would it?

"wym obviously if Palestine wanted to not get genocided, they should just open up a small business publishing books that totally already didn't get carpet bombed using depleted uranium. You're the real racist for not recognizing race realism."

I hate these chickenshits so much. They know they're racist, but they're too cowardly to admit it.

I think you're absolutely correct though. "Stupidity" is a reductionist framing at best. A more useful word in most contexts a person might want to reach for "stupid" would probably be "ignorant" and then it ends up applying to racists like this person, rather than the ones they're being racist towards; as you point out here, with how he clearly doesn't understand anything about the actual dynamic going on.

This particular flavour of smugness is endemic to the tech industry. The field is economically prominent so those successful within the field (read: have written popular software) think of themselves as generally wise and intelligent because of the outsized money and attention these people get than someome with, say, a degree in Physics.
