and yet again, somehow, when this is said out loud I realize this too is wrong. Plenty of the gays I know should technically be super far along that hedonic treadmill, and yet they somehow are able to both be attracted to real people and aren't like... this... at all... There's something really, really weird going on here and the intersection of heteronormativity with it has to be part of it

      Maybe.

Do those gay people you know interact with and have sex with other people regularly? Or are they, like, gay gooners in gay goon caves?

The former, so I guess that might be it. The gooning is like... social gooning.

It's also not tainted by the like, utter distaste for humanity from a philsophical perspective that seems to be the Anime Mindset

There's gay anime out there, right? Does that gay anime also cause the kind of misanthropy as the isekai waifu shit? I think the answer is no, so perhaps there is some horrid sociopolitical propaganda in utter trash like "Shield Hero" that encourages misanthropy in its consumers.

Yeah. He said that the problem with industrialized contemporary anime was that it was made by otaku and for otaku, with a disinterest (or even hatred) of living beings, and the copy-of-a-copy method of churning out such slop made it further and further away from lived experience. miyazaki-pain
