Pretty sure the Cuban Revolution executed ~270 people from the Batista Regime and almost all of them were directly involved in torture, assassinations, and executions.
With the exception of Gusanos and the Republicans, Che is seen as sympathetic by many people, even by liberals and some libertarians (mainly because he fought against the government, although they will probably say something like “I just don't agree with his authoritarianism”), so I can see many people defending him.
