I believe you can actually make detergent pretty easily. I'll see if I can find it for future reference and edit this post with it.
Bar soap, borax, and washing soda. This might not be cheaper rn as I'm unsure has to how much the cost would come out to but it is definitely cheaper long term and just as effective.
