That's not cute. The second panel is quite clearly not an invitation. And the kiss is quite clearly not expected. And he clearly knows it was wrong of him to do so. This man does not respect boundaries.

Actually you know what this comic got me really mad, from the "guilty puppy" look, to the "i just had too much to drink" this is classic SA apologia.

Oh also she is completely stunned. Limp, while he is forcing himself on her. Textbook SA.

Not to say it wouldnt have been SA if she had reciprocated, but it's just so much more obvious.

Oooh glad I switched accounts because I knew someone would show up to defend this. So much worse that you're the OP and mod.

Firstly: this post appears outside of this community and without any context (no matter how good) this can trigger people who had to endure SV like this. This alone disqualifies this post. I need you to understand that posts like these can absolutely wreck someones day and pose a barrier to the site and lemmy as a whole. So best case: it's ableist to put it up.

Secondly: the fact that your first line of defense is "it's just a game" makes me want to shoot you. It's just a comment.

Thirdly: Shane being a depressed alcoholic does not give him a pass to SA people?? And if he's been drinking even though he's an alcoholic all the more reason to step out of the situation. How is pointing out that this is not just a comic about SA but about an alcoholic relapsing and then SA'ing helping your argument? "oh he's been down lately, lets let this one slide"? More r*pe apologia.

Fourthly: Getting a bouquet of flowers a couple days ago does not constitute consent to suddenly grapple someone tight and forcibly make out with them. Famously in stardew valley you aren't dating until after the ten heart event. There's nothing that could even be remotely interpreted as consent to suddenly be kissed. He has demonstrated on his very first date that he does not care about personal boundaries. Just to be clear you have to make your intent clear before you kiss someone even when you're dating but in a game one could charitably interpret that he made his intent clear with a simple gesture that is already well-established as showing intent but is too subtle to explicitly render.

Fifthly: Why the guilty conscience? Why the excuse? "oh i just had one too many", either you had consent or you didn't and if you didn't it's SA.

edit: this man knows he did wrong. Why don't you?

This comic and especially your defense reeks of incel. Stardew valley's relationship mechanics are known to be very problematic, this scene is one of the reasons why.

              And just to be clear:

No consent = SA. No excuses.

I know it can trigger someone because it have no context.

so you are gonna fix this right? anakin-padme-2

I am not saying People should touch other without their consent.

I agree with you No Consent = SA

so you agree that this is SA right? anakin-padme-2

You can shoot me for saying it's a game.

nono I don't want to shoot for pointing that it's a game, I want to shoot you because you're first defense to depictions of SA is "it's just a game". Even if it weren't, your first instinct to such an allegation was "it's just a game" and not even trying to show that consent actually was involved or how a depiction of SA is appropriate for the context we're in.

Player(You) already have a good relation with him at 8 hearts.

Good relation ≠ consent to be suddenly and forcibly kissed!

Also don't blame me for relationship blame concerendape for this.

I am not blaming you for writing this scene nor drawing it. I am blaming you for posting SA and then defending it. I don't care who wrote it or where the idea originated, you decided to post a depiction of SA in a "cute" framework and then proceeded to defend and downplay it.

One more why would one even gain 10 heart with Shane if you don't want to marry him in game and be nice with him at first place.

Do you think that translates to the PC giving consent? If so how?

I can't view the cutscene right now, or confirm whether they are officially dating after the 8 hearts scene, but you still have not shown or even claimed the presence of consent. So this must be, by the logic you agreed to, SA. And even if there is some context somehow saving this, my point under firstly stands. It's a harmful post. Please remove it and reflect on why you wanted to defend it for so long and why none of your defense included trying to establish consent or arguing why depictions of SA are context-appropriate.

Edit: also if shane thought consent was involved why the need to make an excuse. Why the guilt? Even if the PC gave consent clearly Shane does not know it. Shane decided to force himself on the PC without establishing consent. This is SA. You posted a comic that depicts SA as a cute and romantic thing.

One more because I want you to really stew on this:

Shane's reaction betrays he acted without establishing consent, aka committed SA. There is no other reason for him to feel guilty and make excuses other than trying to soften any backlash his action might've caused. Even if there was explicit consent along the lines of "hold me tight and kiss me" he is unaware of it and decided to act regardless. Nothing can excuse this. This is textbook SA.

The framing of the comic makes an act of SA look cute and romantic.

You have posted a comic romanticizing r*pe.

When pointed out that this causes harm to real-life people you still tried to defend it and decided to do nothing to mitigate the harm to these people.
