White noise machines help, I like the mechanical ones which basically have a little fan inside and are adjustable. Like this:

Ngl it took me a while to kinda get over it. I don't even think I got mine from noise damage, but idk

I've been suffering from this too in my right ear. In my case it wasn't because of sound, but an infection.

So, I'll add to your advice: If you suspect that you might have an ear infection, go to the doctor as soon as you notice to get it checked out and treated.

Many symptoms are O.K. to sit and wait for them to go away or get worse. Symptoms that indicate an ear infection aren't. The inner ear is fragile, and if you let an infection progress there is a small but reasonable chance that it will cause permanent irreversible damage, and leave you with a permanent ringing in your head. Don't wait.

Also: If you have earwax buildup issues (which can lead to stuffy ears and promote infection), you can place a few drops of olive oil into your ear, wait a few minutes, and then wash it out in the shower. The oil softens the wax and makes it easier to dislodge and remove by the water flow. Don't use any q-tips or stick anything into the ear. You can do this daily over a period of 2 - 3 weeks to clean up your ears. It takes time, but this is a much gentler method than when you go to the doctor and they use one of the more aggressive techniques to flush out the ear quickly. I'm not a doctor, but this recommendation was given to me by my doctor. I suppose a note saying "check with your own doctor" is warranted on this. It is generally common advice, but don't do it if you have a perforated ear drum or an active infection.

When I went through a tough peak of tinnitus I went to four different doctors and tried to read / watch everything I could. This specific video interview of a tinnitus expert provided a lot of insight and was helpful to me, so I think it is a good resource to share: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1nKGOLQiB4
