I'm an old that still sometimes plays Planetside 2, and there's this fucking outfit there called like "Crusaders In Christ" or something like that, and they're just like that. They can shout all they like about how they think (transphobic slurs here) should (death fantasy here), but woe betide you if you say "Jesus H Christ" or "god damn it" with them around.
Man fuck that. It was bad enough fighting The Enclave way back in the day. There were a couple of times where I was thinking about quitting because I wanted to play a fun game with nice people, not with actual literal proto-Nazis.
Games are supposed to be an enjoyable escape and then literal fascists show up and it's like fuck. You just cannot escape them anywhere anymore. And "fighting them" in a game isn't satisfying, because you're not really hurting or hindering them. If I'm doing any kind of game or sport and get matched up against someone I despise I'll forfeit or alt-F4 and I sometimes have trouble explaining that it's because I want to fight or compete with people I respect. Even if you win, just treating fash as legitimate competitors or players says that you have some degree of respect for them.
