I don't have a good track record with sunglasses. Scratch them, break them, lose them, get super glue on the lenses (latest pair 🙄). So what's your recommendation for a decent budget brand where I can get a) good vision, b) polarised, c) UV rating?

I use Goodr. They are popular in the running community. Cheap enough that I don't worry too much about damaging or losing them. I don't think they have a UV rating, but are polarised. In saying that I don't wear sunglasses that often. They have a distributor in NZ: https://goodr.co.nz/ and they have 15-20% off sales once or twice a year.

Another one popular with biking/runners is Tifosi, but I find their polarised models here are closer to $100.

I would just say have realistic expectations for the price. They're made of pretty lightweight plastic so probably aren't super durable, like if you sat on them or something. With reasonable care they can still last a long time.

The first one I clicked on had 100% UV protection under the section about polarised lenses. All but the very cheapest should have UV protection because if they don't they basically increase the risk of damage to your eyes.
