Just venting cause I'm feeling pretty doomer and nihilistic right now. Its not really the election results that have me bummed out...but the knee jerk reactions and hot takes about what the democrats need to do for the future is really bumming me out about what the world is gonna look like.

The insane thing I can't get over is: if Harris had won it actually would have vindicated the fucking right wing shift. Her marching out the Cheney's to campaign for her, ignoring gaza protestors, cozying up to big American corporate interests...all of it. Congrats: you proved you can just be the republican party from 20 years ago and win power and we can be ignored. Bravo.

**But that didn't happen. ** They fucking lost. They ate shit! There are a multitude of factors you can point to regarding why the Harris campaign failed but it DID fail. The strategy failed.

And yet somehow the takeaway is that the left are responsible for alienating voters with our radical ideas. I know we talk about how we need to abandon the democratic party and realize its a lost cause and I do think that's probably the correct take...but at this point I think that's not even going to be a choice we have to make so much as it is a material necessity once the democratic party starts actively purging us out.

Mostly reddit/twitter. I don't know anyone in my personal life who feels this way...but aside from certain members of my family I don't personally interact with anyone who didn't hold back vomit seeing Harris campaign with Cheney.
