I'm still rocking my 25 year old N64 with the translucent purple controller. I have an older NES too, but it doesn't get as much play time. Both are one owner!
If you don't have too much stick drift on that controller it's worth so much more than any solid color if you need extra cash at any point you could easily flip it into another controller and some money.
I have had about a dozen controllers over the years, that purple one has always been the best and continues to be. It has outlasted them all and still is the only one I have that works flawlessly (I need to get at least one more good one). I can see why they are desired.
