Howdy there friends!

I'm charlie and I'm an avid knitter, mostly socks and shawls, but I dabble in most aspects of fiber crafts! Hoping to get into yarn spinning next year if circumstances allow. My other less intense hobbies are gardening, violin/piano, reading (mostly history), and board games.

I'm non-binary, they/him pronouns. My journey has been a lot of self doubt and imposter syndrome, but I'm extremely lucky to have the best wife/best friend I could imagine.

I've never tried color-work, that's impressive! I find it so intimidating, lol. I've been looking at argyle sock patterns though, the vintage ones are traditionally knit on two straight needles and the color-work there is fairly basic, so it seems approachable enough.

Socks became a lot more simple for me when I was recommended this pattern and now I've got this heel almost memorized, they way the short row turns are worked is almost magic. The coolest thing about knitting socks I think is all the ways you can try doing it. Toe-cup or cuff down, there's about a million different toes and heels, adjusting gussets for the perfect fit, ribbing or no, rolled cuff or ribbed cuff, maybe a hemmed cuff, fun lacy pattern or a simple stockinette sock, so many options!

The current work on my needles is this beautiful shawl pattern called The Hen Wife. I like that the lace is only the center panel and that the two outside are just garter stitch so I can mostly knit and read.
