“I’ve been listening to this podcast ‘Revolutions,’ about Marx,” he told me. “It’s really dense, but a lot of what he’s describing in his writing is something that the workers feel: essentially, you’re getting fucked over.”
Lol is Connor a hexbear poster?
Anyway, the articles shitty title and mid premise aside, I feel like there are some fans on this site. He seems to capture something about the zeitgeist or whatever. Smoking 500 cigarettes for 5G is an anthem.
Both things can be true. Not to be annoying or whatever...
Lower democrat voter turnout for reasons you already listed
Plus the aforementioned aggrieved white men turning out in numbers great enough to give Trump the win
Those white chuds that vote Trump aren't especially new though. They've been doing that for 40 fucking years. When Raegan came and pretty much slammed the coffin on unions in the US (which dems never made even an ounce of effort to reverse or "fix") conditions for everyone started getting shittier, but the Republicans always tailored their messaging towards like "Are you HWhite? Do you feel fucked over? Have you considered blaming... black people? Brown people? Women? Gays? If you answered yes, please vote for us and we promise to work towards liquidating all of these groups fucking you over."
So as less union jobs existed, wages failed to keep up with inflation... yeah. The class aspect of voting was gone (to the small degree it was ever there previously- do not misunderstand me) and all that was left was identity based grievance politics. Trump is pretty much the personification of identity based grievance politics (for white men, obviously). Sort of the inevitable result of decades of Rush Limbaugh... a man who adopts all of Rush's bullshit opinions and says them proudly and loudly. And democrats love talking about anything but class, so, it works out great for them too. What a shithole country this is
