Like, sometimes I feel that the hypocritical puritanism of "hehe yiffers are just a bunch of non-representative degenerates, fandom is not about sex" is just capitalism trying to commodify and whitewash the fandom to make it more marketable and capitalism-friendly.

The puritanism is 100% an attempt to make the fandom attractive to big capital.
I see it most in conventions. The contentions that are run for profit tend to be more restrictive on kinky things in public.
