    These were dubbed "space trains" and were used to make the most of the London undergrounds tunnel shapes. Sadly they never came to be....

        This was to maximise the amount of standing space. By hugging the shape of the tunnel the side seats could be mounted further out, creating a wider aisle. In addition this train had those articulated carriages that meant you could walk up and down the length of the train.

          Articulated carriages are already standard with the S7 and S8 stock, but wider carriages on the deep-level tubes would be super helpful.

            Yeah, we do have them on some lines. But this was going to be way back in the early 2000s. And I am on the central line which could really benefit from some new trains.

              Supposedly the next gen of deep level tubes will finally get AC. Also, if you haven't already, check out Jago Hazzard's video about excessive heat on the Central Line and in fact his entire channel. Despite never having been to London, I really like his stuff. His voice is so calming and his videos are the perfect length to take a shower while I get ready for work.
