I'm fucking stupid. I was doing something that involved me using a mallet to beat out food at work, and it required me to hit really hard to break everything down well. Well I swung too low on thursday and accidentally punched the FUCK out of the cutting board. I have not been able to bend my middle finger since then. Well, a tad, but it just hurts A LOT. I was hoping it was just brusing but it's getting too bad now. I have it tied to my ring finger with ace bandage after work and it's been helping but I kinda need at least 4 fingers for work, being in such a physically demanding job. I have cashapp, venmo and paypal, finger splints aren't that expensive, they're just $20 bucks, I'd totally make the walk to walmart for that at this point because oh my god it hurts so bad, I hope the ibuprofen hits soon
Edit: Our friend SorosFootSoldier has suggested I go to urgent care, which made me want to add the extra $8 to the post so I can get there and back. It would probably be a good idea to go there especially since I have medicaid right now
Any (significant) injury you have at work, you should have evaluated by a doctor right away. Workers comp will cover treatment.
I smoke weed, so the success of this would be questionable. I have valid medical reason to smoke (seizures) but no med card so I could be held responsible and not have it covered by medicaid or worker's comp if I went for that and failed. I have state insurance that covers everything, unless it's something really major it's better for me to just pretend it wasn't at work
bumping and sorry to hear that comrade, if it gets too bad don't put it off and maybe try to get seen at an urgent care if you can?
I have medicaid, so I could do that for free (minus the ride there) but all the urgent cares around here will just tell me to get a finger splint (did this as a kid a couple times, not the tenderloin pounding but the finger breaking). Might go to urgent care while I have time off tomorrow, but I'd need like $8 extra for the ride there and would feel bad asking for that with other people's greater needs right now.
Okay then, hopefully it's just a simple sprain or bruise and the splint puts it on the mend.
I added it to my post, I'll probably go tomorrow just to have it looked at. I mean it's not like I have to pay for the urgent care visit, an extra $8 for actual medical care doesn't seem like to much to ask for
