In light of recent events, the demcon project Rojava will be tested. What will they do now? Will AANES seek independence?

Trump has said the US shouldn't be involved in Syria, will he recall the remaining few thousand US troops from Syria? Or will the neocons convince Trump he can engage in "good" nation-building and create Kurdistan from AANES and northern Iraq? Would SDF go for such a plan since their stated goal is not a Kurdish state, but a multicultural state organised along the lines of democratic confederalism?

I don't believe that. I believe they shouldn't have trusted US imperialism. That's actually what will happen NOW that the US will let turkey do whatever the fuck they want. Knowing the consequences of something and wanting something to happen aren't the same thing.

Except the US armed them and thus helped them fight off ISIS and survive. So DAANES has already gotten something pretty significant from the US, meanwhile what has the US gotten? How much of the extracted oil ended up in US hands?

It was actually the SAA that was helping them fight off Turkey though, US never offered SDF fighting Turkey.

They didn't "trust US imperialism", they trusted the US to provide military assistance fighting against a foe whose stated mission was to ethnically cleanse north-east Syria and absorb it into its global caliphate.

So, yeah, you are saying that they should have rejected US' help and just let themselves be slaughtered. Is there another (realistic) alternative you can see?
