The way she breaks down in the car felt very genuine. Like the fear had just come back and she was experiencing it again
That's what stood out to me too that she feared for her life. You often don't see that much with encounter stories.
The husband sticking his head in the sand also makes sense. Dude was terrified but doesn't want to admit it so he just tries to move past it
