Video about potential military conflicts in the next few decades. There's some interesting stuff, particularly in regards to wars over climate change and access to water, but holy shit the amount of US imperialist propaganda is astounding. Going above and beyond simple "China bad" statements straight towards "well actually the US empire is good for democracy and freedom" bullshit.

Yeah, that was the first thing that tipped me off that this guy didn't really know what he was talking about. The scenarios he presented were interesting in and of themselves, but his ability to analyze geopolitics is complete dogshit. Like with the hypothetical Egyptian refugee crisis, the number he gave was 30 million people, but compared to Europe's 750 million people, it would barely be anything, both in terms of structural stress, and in terms of "muh white genocide". And also, as we saw with Syria, most of that population is probably just going to go to settle in a country thats relatively close to Egypt, like Turkey for example, so the idea that all 30 million people are just going to flood into Europe all at once is absurd.

its really absurd. and he hardly mentioned the potential for civil war in thailand, india, and the phillipines. maoist insurgencies are very much in vogue in asia right now due to china's success story.

True. Since he basically outed himself as a full blown neocon at the end of the video, I don't think its even within his ideological framework to consider anything other than the US and its allies being morally good and rational, while all of the US's enemies are comically evil James Bond villain madmen that rule over populations wishing for America to come in and save them. Its the exact same mentality thats gotten us owned in every single war we've been in since WW2, and it's completely blinds your geopolitical analysis from even considering that maybe there are large numbers of people who hate the US, or that people can genuinely support groups and ideologies that the US has deemed evil for reasons other that that they were brainwashed/forced to.

The most egregious example of this is probably when he said that the US is the only thing stopping Europe from recolonizing Africa. Implying not only that the US is somehow a benevolent protector of Africa, but that the US and Europe aren't already having the same effect on Africa as colonialism, just through debt entrapment rather than boots on the ground. And also, if he knew history, he should've known that European colonialism got kicked out in very brutal guerrilla wars that only took place a half century ago, and those memories are probably still pretty fresh in peoples minds, so trying to do old school colonialism nowadays would basically be throwing yourself into the height of the Vietnam War, and I can't imagine that any country other than the US would actually be dumb enough to think that would be a good idea.
