So, after Meltzer declared the match between Mercedes Moné & Hazuki one of the best women’s matches to happen on American soil, he gave it a 4.75

This A) got me pissed off & B) got me curious.

In total, Meltzer has given 21 women’s matches 5 stars or higher, here is that breakdown via decade:

80s: 3 90s: 17 2000s: 0 2010s: 0 2021 to Present: 1

So here’s my challenge to you, excluding the matches Meltzer has rated, what are your five star women’s matches?

If only one got his nod from the past four years, he clearly isn't paying any kind of attention to Willow Nightingale, Thunder Rosa, Jamie Hayter, or Toni Storm. (I wish I could say Jade Cargill too, but lbr she basically used Rampage as what most AEW developmentals would use Dark for, then fucked off to WWE immediately after her streak of jobbers got broke.)

That said, I'd give just about any match Willow's been a part of since she got raised up from AEW Dark a fiver except where she dropped her title to Moné; if only because I'm deeply opposed to WWE vets walking in and immediately stripping homegrown talent of gold for a cheap boost. I genuinely believe, wherever she goes, she's going to put the women's division of her fed on her back and hoist that mf.
