Latex-free condoms are expensive. But I can't touch latex, and unfortunately dislike the taste of ejaculate.

We've tried latex-free condoms despite the price, but they taste awful and the texture is awkward at best. Most don't even fit him--they're not as stretchy as their latex counterparts, from what I've seen on the internet.

We've tried ziplock sandwich bags, which poke a little too much. We've tried tearable plastic wrap, and the texture is unacceptable, I always gag on the plastic.

I'll come back to let you guys know how it turns out, but hubby has tried something new--nitrile gloves. We had them around for cleaning around our living area already, and he checked to see if his penis would fit. It did, in fact, fit in the thumb of the disposable nitrile glove, stretchier than the latex-free condoms we've tried.

He says they don't taste like anything after being run under water, and it wraps in such a way that there are no uncomfortable wrinkles in the nitrile material.

I don't know how feasibly it would work out, but I'll update this post once we try it.

I have read that old fashioned lamb-skin condoms are pretty good. They fell out of fashion in the 80s because the membrane is not capable of stopping HIV, which like all viruses is extremely small. But if all you are concerned with is pregnancy they are effective. I don't know about the taste.

The benefits compared to latex and latex alternatives are that they are meant to warm to body temperature more quickly and have a more natural feel. In the old days, they were considered to be reusable, you could rinse them out and hang them to dry.

I've never had occasion to try them and they are not widely available. You'd almost certainly have to buy them online.

They obviously aren't vegan. To be clear you are using the guts like they do for sausage casings.

WRT regular condoms, the newer latex free ones are better than the old ones. Ages ago I recall the brand "avanti" was not stretchy at all; and was thick. But there is a newer one called "Skyn" which is a lot more alike to latex.

Condoms are a sadly neglected area of technological innovation. We should have good ones by now.
