I grew up in the 80s and every department store was like that. JC Penny's used to be like that. Mervyn's used to be like that. Fucking Ross used to be like that.
I went into a Ross recently and there was literally just a small mountain of stuff piled at the center of the store that a handful of people were picking through like it feral dogs in a junkyard. The entire store was staffed by a single woman basically asleep at the cash register.
This is it, folks. You may not like it, but this is what Peak Capitalism looks like. This is where we're all headed.
