This feature has far-reaching affects on reddit that are just generally beneficial to half the features of the platform... Which we have copied here...

Crossposting for example. Right now there is zero incentive for anyone to crosspost content they see outside of relevant communities into those communities. The incentive of pts, however silly it is, generates the massive amounts of crossposting on reddit that results in content getting to all the correct related communities.

This benefitted us on reddit. A post in chapo would end up in the tankie or anarchist or whatever specific communities it was relevant to, because people would crosspost it there (and later repost it there when crossposting was disabled by quarantine. Many people remember to do so and make it routine because of the pts. Without it I feel like it's already noticeable that people aren't doing it here, I didn't crosspost my own post to somewhere relevant for example and I'm usually quite good about that on reddit.

We shouldn't reinvent the wheel here. We should be aiming for the best success we can be. If this means doing something like using pts for incentives we should do it. Ideological disagreements with "individualism" aren't useful.

Another way to look at it is - has the lack of a global score resulted in a noticeable benefit? I don't think it has.
