    From that article: "But if Republican and no-party affiliation voters could participate in that primary, the electorate is suddenly much whiter, which could influence the outcome of the primary. A Democrat is still likely to come out ahead in a general election, but there’s a greater chance that the Democratic candidate advancing would be white, Shaw said."

    I'm not sure I follow the logic there.

      It's a jungle primary system like in CA. The idea is that a republican would never win in democratic districts to people just vote for a more right wing democrat.
