At least quarantine that shit to the dunk tank.
I'm not on hexbear to spend all my time thinking about libs lol, I'm on hexbear because I like hexbear. I like the riffs, and the topics, and the cool knowledgeable users who post stuff I would never see otherwise. I've learned a ton here over the years, and it really feels like a wholly unique space on the internet.
Yeah, however they weighed the old one was perfect. I get we have to go with the overall algorithm for federatin'... but that just means all of Lemmy is in desperate need of a better ruleset.
I've been hoping they'll change Lemmy's Active sort to Hexbear's old one. If we'd had this back in the day I'm pretty confident the early struggle sessions would have killed the site.
We did have this algorithm back in the day. The site kind of sucked until the admins fixed it.
There's some kind of plan to restore the old active sort algorithm, but it hasn't happened yet. I tracked down the code that did it from the old implementation, but I have no idea if anyone is working on getting that integrated with the new codebase right now.
posts only stay up on that one for like an hour though. the 12 hours of old Active was kind of a sweet spot for "what's goin on today" and "every thread is days old with struggle sessions in every thread"
That's true and I think part of it is an adjustment period which is gonna last a few more weeks till we kinda regulate and rebalance everything. This post is part of the process. Tweaking the sitting alg will help too.
What's always a major turning point for us is when "big news" happens. People who logged off come back home, we sometimes struggle a bit and then establish a party line, it's all exciting stuff but only happens every 12-18 months I feel like. I'm looking forward to the next one though, it'll be interesting with federation.
yes please! I wanna talk about the news, not meaningless anonymous usernames and text boxes on internet forums.
I agree. It's too easy. Some of them are funny but for the most part I wish my front page would return to interesting news and left wing hot takes.
I could try to kickstart the machines in the hot take factory again.
One sec:
Heartbeat is low-key fascistic with its emphasis on a prelapsarian view of "the good old days", likewise for Happy Days and any other TV show set in or around the 60's.
Was that hot enough? If not I could pick another British drama/sitcom that no one cares about to call fascist.
wish I could upbear this 1000 times. the whole point of this website is to not have to be bombarded with dumbass libs, and yet we have plenty of people who are content to bombard us all with dumbass libs. keep it to the dunk tank
Death to America
wish I could upbear this 1000 times
You could m,anually create 1000 accounts
Yeah, if you wanna dog on someone, use the modlog. They've already cast the first stone so you can really go in swinging.
Ngl why don't we just find someone in the modlog rn and @ them into here to start dunking on them?
I found one who's not banned yet
CW for queerphobia
ShowTwo upbears and I @ them
I made a mistake, that one's banned here but I did find these two [CW for queerphobia]
Show
Show@regalia@literature.cafe and @BaconIsAVeg@lemmy.ml are fucking queerphobic scratched lib dumbasses
Also this
Show"I vote liberal and I pay taxes but also I think homeless people should be left to die"
- @BaconIsAVeg@lemmy.ml, 2023
(Also the last comment in the list was in reply to the thread about people using a racial slur as a common term for computers lol - tell a liberal they cant say slurs and a fascist blocks a community)
Time to block you all because misogyny , it's the classic liberal playbook! judging from their username I bet they have all sorts of opinions about vegans
Yeah they also fucking hate homeless people too, the fucking le epic bacon lemmitor is pretty much proudly scratched at this point
Also not really a fan of when someone says some dumb shit and a score of hexbears descend like vultures to all get their super cool dunk in. Most of these replies contribute fuck all, often enough it's just bears replying to each other long after anyone else, and it bloats threads, making them less readable and keeping them hanging in the sort.
Act like you've been there before. It's like in a twitch chat when there's something obvious to say and a hundred people fall over themselves to be the special little poster whose comment gets attention.
Once a couple people have replied to an offending comment, just move on. Really think about whether whatever you want to say hasn't been communicated already.
I personaly love it. Because my usual experience in social media is the libs mobing me. Its nice to be at the other end for once.
i use the site less because of this, the posts have gotten a lot less enjoyable now that everyone's whining about libs all the time
I wish there were fewer screenshots of people saying really reallly really dumb things.
The world is a big place, of course some very stupid things will be said every day. We should focus our attention away from that.
That's it. I'm defederating the site. With or without the mods' will.
