Yeah, all of the methods that come to mind by which a bomb could put out a fire across that kind of distance are pretty devastatingly problematic in terms of their effect on wildlife and human beings in that zone. If this thing like displaces oxygen, welcome to the Era of countries bombing and killing their own civilians to save money on addressing climate change consequences.
Turns out the 5km is the range of the missile, not the area covered. It covers 150m or so from impact, which is mildly more reasonable.
