long story short, he has a history of it. They've historically resolved after some medical care and medicine adjustment. Its really hard to tell what's happening this time. I think a medication change and some trauma triggered it but it's gotten to the point where he's continuously flinging slurs, hateful comments, and doing some (probably) illegal and heinous shit.

I'm really not sure what to do. I don't want to call the cops but idt it matters because he's gotten several welfare checks already. He's saying everyone is bullying him when in reality, he's the one doing the bullying.

He was already hospitalized, to basically no effect. I know there's not much I can do but it really sucks watching this guy be a wrecking ball through his life, family, and friends.

I really don't want him to get hurt, but I don't want him to hurt others even more. Some advice would be helpful.

This is a really tough situation comrade, I'm sorry.

I don't know enough about the situation to give specific advice. It depends on what he's doing. If he's doing blatantly illegal shit, how illegal are we talking? Is it just property damage, or is he a danger to himself and other people?

First, someone needs to contact his mental health provider. If the meds are causing the issue, he needs to have them reduced or stopped entirely. He likely will need something to sedate him until doctors can figure out what the hell went wrong. If he has access to alcohol, he needs that access removed.

I'd recommend him being taken in for a three day hold, but it sounds like he already did that and tbh the mental health care system is so bad in this country (assuming that you are in the US) that it will likely have him feeling more fucked up. Whatever happens, he needs a time out, because his brain is running on adrenaline.

Speaking as someone who has had a few mental breakdowns in their day, I would have appreciated being dragged out into the woods for a camping trip for the week with some friends/family. The go-go-go or die nature of our current society is really fucking bad for people who are experiencing a crisis, and the sooner he can slow down the better.

Also, remember, don't light yourself on fire to keep him warm. Sometimes there is only so much you can do as a friend. If he's attacking you, or hurting other people, he needs to be hospitalized before he gets arrested- a far worse outcome for all involved.

The illegal shit he's doing is possibly in the realm of revenge porn. Both victims are aware of it and it wasn't wide spread(ie messaged, not posted online) so I'm opting to let them decide how to move forward.

I was thinking of trying to contact his doctor, but I don't know how to find that info, he gets fairly aggressive if asked those questions. This is totally over text communications, we're states away. I may be able to reach out to someone who does though. I wasn't sure if contacting someone's doctor was an okay thing to do.

Thank you for the advice comrade, its been stressful trying to help him.
