I've been wanting to get into woodworking for years but living in a small city apartment it never seemed practical. Came across a rabbit's hole of woodcarving/whittling videos on youtube recently, checked out this comm and saw all your posts, and just bought some supplies last night. Super stoked to get to (hopefully successfully) make something with my hands.
Hell yeah -- any recommendations on places to start, things to know? I bought a bunch of basswood, a Flexcut detail knife, a Narex chisel, some accessories (gloves, strop, etc.). Going in totally blind off the high of seeing Youtubers who know way more than me lol.
Totally fair, don't mean to conflate the two because they're definitely different. No goals! I think I'm gonna make some spoons and bowls, little figurines and jewelry maybe. Again, just want to produce something with my hands and put energy into something like that.
Honestly going to go into it not caring and just learning cuts and techniques for a while before trying anything for real.

yes! I really want to post stuff but don't wanna dominate this comm, make stuff and post it!
