my grandparents refused to get internet. Other members of my family bitch about it, but considering my grandpa's become more racist with time I'm happy he's not on any dogshit messaging groups.

Did they became more racist with time or did racism just became less acceptable with time and they just stayed the same?

more racist. It's possible he became more willing to say what he was always thinking, but he said things which he would not have tolerated us saying in the past.

Interesting… I wonder if it is because the mental faculty of the elders start detereorating and they start becoming more tribal?

Based on the decay of other relatives, I think it's an aimless anger at the world, and general boredom, that needs a focus, and this was a traditional hate that wouldn't affect family members, more or less.

I really do wish I asked my grandad his opinion on these people (he was a dire-hard communist and worked in the engineer's trade union as a wire factory worker).

He really was the best guiding figure for my child years, he introduced me first to socialism, taught me about working hard, and told me reading must be crucial to my generation. Never harboured hate for anyone, even people who wronged him.

My grandpa used to be a very active Christian Democrat (more center right over here) member. He died before I joined the communist party and I'll always be curious to know what he'd think of it.
