Alright everyone, let’s get this party started. The title asks the question pretty well. What is the main use of your Linux install? Is it gaming, programming, just to dump windows etc…

Let’s have some fun everyone.

I use it at home for my personal computer, primarily for gaming and on my workshop computer for looking stuff up. I also use it at work on my business computers. I also have a stack of Raspberry Pis that that provide Pi-Hole DNS services and file synchronization services.

I always thought about running a RP. But I just don’t have a scaleable need for one. It might have been a different case if as card manufactures had a 500gb card available. Then I would use it as a small plex server for my home where I could upload movies to it through ssh connection.

I like them because they're quiet, unobtrusive, and low power. I tuck them away in a corner and forget about them for the most part. I also keep a Pi Zero W hanging off of a solar panel in a shed away from my house. If an spaceship crashes into my house, I'll still have my files out in the shed.

Awesome strategy. Guess that gives a new meaning to offsite storage

I'm using it at work for development. At home I'm daily driving tumbleweed for gaming and whatnot. I have a few servers running proxmox with various VMs for self hosting

As someone is wanting to set up their own self hosted server is it pretty simple to set up?
