On 5 August 1976, Eric Clapton provoked an uproar and lingering controversy when he spoke out against increasing immigration during a concert in Birmingham. Visibly intoxicated, Clapton voiced his support of the controversial [Rivers of Blood] speech , and announced on stage that Britain was in danger of becoming a "black colony". Among other things, Clapton said "Keep Britain white!" which was at the time a National Front (NF) slogan.

        That's because Clapton SUUUCKS

Seriously, not only is he a colonizing piece of shit who built his career stealing black people's music, he's not a good guitarist

While My Guitar Gently Weeps. It is clear--from chords to rhythm to title--that George designed this song to be absolutely ripped over on lead guitar. Not only that, he designed it to be ripped over specifically by Eric Clapton. This is a guitarist considered by many to be the GOAT performing one of his most iconic solos on a track literally written with him in mind. I mean, this has gotta be epic right?

        Lets take a look

        Dog. Shit.

Seriously. This is the kind of performance I'd expect from the guitarist at my local dive bar, right down to the ill-fitting dad-shirt. The old bastard can't even be arsed to play his own licks during the verse, getting his almost-certainly more talented studio musician to do it.

Fucking, Slowhand, they call this guy. Slowhand. As if that's something a guitarist should be bragging about

But let's just prove my point right quick: here's the same solo being played by the criminally underrated Prince

This seems subjective but it really isn't. If you thought you liked Clapton's solo more, you're wrong. You didn't. Prince's is better in every conceivable way, and he's hardly even considered a guitarist at all, let alone the GOAT.

Here's the same solo from Paul GIlbert, who has more talent in his pinky finger than Clapton's entire cocaine-riddled dad-bod. Gilbert will die in relative obscurity while Clapton will be enshrined at the Rock'n Roll hall of fame, his wealth passed down for generations.

It pisses me off, not gonna lie. And from the rest of this thread it appears he has chud-level politics in addition to dropping kids out windows or whatever, so, yeah, all in all.. fuck Eric Clapton
