The problem is that I've tasted competent combinations of sweet an savory. A nice honey glazed ham or sweet and sour pork are great, but that doesn't mean I have to enjoy chocolate cake with chunks of ham in it.
Westernized Chinese food is also an abomination, but that's a separate topic I guess.
Even so, I think it's a fundamentally different food that's had a lot more care taken in balancing the flavors. Just because Mexican food has delicious meat and chocolate moles, doesn't mean I'm going to eat a chocolate cake with ham in it.
