I feel like broader central/south American CIA shit would be better. While obviously Cuba touched on it, I feel like death squads are perhaps a clearer angle for them. But that's just me.
I don't think there's really a need. Like what is there to say that Nick Turse hasn't already said? I guess you could say the same thing about Bruce Cummings, but generally it seems their goal is to correct common fundamental understandings about US foreign policy and while there are common misunderstandings about Vietnam they don't seem as significant as Korea, the Cuban Middle Crisis or Operation Cyclone. Could be wrong.
I'm guessing if they do another one it'll be Yugoslavia, or Operation Gladio. Very outside chance they do the overthrow of the Soviet Union, but that might tip their hand too much.
maybe i'm missing the broader theme of the show, but i thought it was about the negative impact (perceived or real) on US citizens at home brought on by US foreign policy creating those conditions aka "Blowback" as the company term for an operation blowing back as unintended/unwanted side effects.
i didn't listen to S1 or S2 yet, but the DPRK "Nuclear Threat" and Af-Pak 9/11 and as a loci for the "War on Terror" are painstakingly exposed and in great detail as the direct consequences of US foreign policy. there isn't really a "vietnamese threat" today in the news, unless they broadened it to be about the Golden Triangle and/or China and connected the Opium Wars, anglo interference in the Chinese Civil War & the KMT warlords that fled south and setup shop in the Golden Triangle. but the scope for that would be huge, compared to the relatively discrete seasons so far.
They were guests on CTH last week to promote the new season and mentioned that while they do touch on blowback it's not always the story they're trying to tell. Largely focuses on U.S. war crimes.
Nah despite the title the show isn't really about that (though season 4 definitely is). I highly recommend season 1, it's probably their best work.
