The House speaker, Nancy Pelosi, instructed two Democrats from California — the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Representative Adam B. Schiff, and a proponent of greater privacy limits on surveillance, Representative Zoe Lofgren — to negotiate over a narrowed version of the proposal.

Don't worry guys, Schiff is on the case.

While it may seem like it isn't really news, it's pretty big news. Until now, it was thought that the NSA were the only ones doing this sort of dragnet collection. The FBI is a totally different beast though and it could have some pretty big ramifications as far as domestic law enforcement is concerned.

:this: :this: :this: This has been known since the Patriot act was signed in 2000. It's something the American Library Association has fought in regards to making sure what you attempt to read isn't known just like your search results/etc.

But the government stops short of using that law to collect the keywords people submit to internet search engines because it considers such terms to be content that requires a warrant to gather, according to letters produced by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

Sure, they have their own offices in google, facebook, and every other big tech company but they don't look at your search logs nope. Oh by the way, I have a nice bridge I'm putting up for sale.
