the whole point of revolution is taking existing tech, picking the winners to focus on, and putting a fuckton of scientists that are passionate about it on the job that wouldnt otherwise be able to because capitalism did not prioritize the tech (which should be beneficial to many people) well enough.
im just glad that china is big and consolidated enough that this isnt just a hypothetical is some trotskyists head, people are already doing this shit. also the shit about society not being able to improve is so america brained, sometimes i feel like im in a fucking different world because im a dual citizen. believe it or not, the rest of the world is not as brainfucked as the great satan

My suspicion is that it's a thing where you can't see them, but they can see you. Admittedly, sounds like a bad design choice.
