Well, two of the judges did. It's the third judge "Mike Bell" who scored one of the weirdest 10-8's in history, ruining Shevchenko's night.
I could *maybe* see giving Grasso Rd5 for threats and control, but even then, Valentina did the lion's share of the damage. It's pretty hard not to appreciate the corruption and/or incompetence seeing scores like that.
Credit to Grasso for being such a tough opponent, but Valentina did the greater damage in three of the rounds. That should have been a win.
A bonus round would be interesting, but I don't think most orgs would be interested, same as how the tournament nights were phased out years ago. Main problem is the fighters take months training for a certain number of rounds, and pace themselves accordingly. By adding an arbitrary extra round because some judge made a bonehead decision, you'd automatically favor fighters like the Diaz Bros, who could probably fight 8+ rounds if they needed to.
The real problem here is that the athletic commissions (especially Nevada) appoint judges based too much on cronyism. Some of these people know boxing perfectly well, but barely know how they're supposed to score MMA, as we saw tonight.
