I don't see anything on his main accounts about that, tho it could've been a Q&A somewhere. I'm hoping it wasn't just hopeful podcast speculation. O'Neill's archival work on Chaos was unfuckwithable, what a great book. Would love to read him picking apart the popular mythological personage of known provocateur and gun runner Jim Jones, the leaden blob under which all leads must be buried in order to keep people from approaching Jonestown's Nazi/CIA connections via the patronage of the Layton family.
Nazi/CIA connections? Damn, that's the first I've heard of that. although I've only just read that book by Jeff Guinn. I'm guessing Road to Jonestown is just neolib propaganda? Because on the contrary, the book made Jones out to be an ardent socialist and rather...... sympathetic guy until he fell off a mental cliff and started murdering people.
Do you know where I can read more about Jonestown's Nazi connections?
It's never a straight line, but I'll come back with a belated mini-effortpost for you after the weekend.
