GAME IS CLOSED, WE MET OUR PLAYER QUOTA.
http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=337997 (password: Walter10) i tried getting some friends on, but they have been ignoring me... so now im asking you wonderful chapos!
it’s a really neat game that i feel is halfway between chess and risk, and has a social/diplomatic component to it. it’s pretty old (1950s) and was usually played by mail.
you play as one of the 7 powers of WW1 europe, and you must make alliances and enemies to conquer half of the board. the moves are all done at the same time, but before anymove there is a 24 hour period of discussion and negotiation between the players so that they can coordinate, confront or backstab.
the rules are pretty simple, they are on the website, but the hard part is the social and predictive side, like being able to know what your adversaries are going to do and if your allies are as reliable as they tell you they are.
idk, i never tried any variant, and i think the ww1 aesthetics are neat. plus the fact that it's a realpolitik game lends itself well to the period, ww2 wasnt this scheme-ish if you know what i mean
