I'm hoping this doesn't start a fight, I'm just curious what the political orientation is of this community. I grew up in a liberal (in the American sense) family, and I identify now as a socialist, though a lot of the liberalism I grew up in has stuck with me, like interest in LGBTQ and women's rights, environmentalism, etc. Wondering where people here land?

In Germany (not the GDR in which only very few didn't have a home) if you have are unhoused you have to wait a (couple of) years before you get a flat in the current market and then you get the rent paid (up to a point) and roughly 500 Euro for everything else (you have to pay for utilities, electricity etc. from that 500 Euro).
Since Covid you can ask for a one time amount of up to 350 Euro for smartphone/notebooks/smartbooks to be able to get educated. You will not have money leftover at the end of the month, but will have plenty of free time.
