I think it’s seriously time to talk about elections for this site. I know site admins are hesitant because they may lose power, but doesn’t the very fact that you fear that outcome mean that you know deep down that the tides have changed and the site is ready for new leadership? While there are specific mods who have done a stellar job and I admire their contributions to our burgeoning community, others have been divisive, acted immature and vitriolic, and generally have used their given powers in a hamfisted way that is off-putting to many of this site’s users. It would be a waste of my time to seek out examples of this behavior because for the admins in question, a quick glance at their recent history is enough to prove my points. Calls for elections come up pretty often and I genuinely believe that the users of this site should select our leadership.

This happens to me for like 20th time - there is a struggle session, I see other admins and mods and think: "I don't think they should be admins". Then ScreamoBMO comes in and clears up the mod position/does damage control and I think: "ScreamoBMO is the only admin on this website who is worthy of being an admin and probably should fucking run it at his sole discretion".

The pitch included admin elections though, granted that position has a shitload of no-doubt incredibly fiddly work associated with it, but it was said that it was going to happen
Or sitemod elections would be a good start

I distinctly remember Beatnik saying it in the discord, it was part of the reason i came here after the sub got nuked

                    Yeah, i get you
I do think that getting some kind of democratic selection for siteadmins/megamods, whatever you want to call them will be better sooner rather than later, these mod dramas are getting way more frequent and it does feel very uneven and cliqueish, and this is coming from someone who likes the current team

I think if the site had elections and put forth clear expectations for what we’d expect from the team it would only improve this place. I get what you’re saying though, it might be risky.
