I need to scratch that progress bar itch and watch my dudes level up from sending them on missions, but without actually doing anything. Armchair leader in the laziest sense. Is that a thing?

Idk about the wow thing you’re talking about Fallout shelter has a kind of “sending them out without doing anything” thing going on.
This war of mine might also have something similar with less input from the player but there is a bit of a item management game loop
