Pretty straightforward install, but takes up a little space. Took me about an hour and a half, start to finish. Not sure if it's common, but I'll get reimbursed for the cost because I live in third world America and the lead content of my water is high.
Nice work on doing some plumbing! I was very proud for installing an under-sink water filter (not RO, not sure what it is) last year, I hadn’t really done much plumbing.
A few years ago myy city had a spate of “boil alerts” because sewage was getting into the clean water somehow, a few blocks away, so... yeah. USA #1
Oh, yeah, love the boil notices, always a good sign. I've done a lot of plumbing in the past year. The plumbing wasn't too bad, but the drywall repair was miserable after.
I'm not the OP, but the water quality in my parents town was so bad that they had to install a commercial reverse osmosis system in their basement. It holds like 600 gallons. Before they installed it, they would have to get new water fixtures every like 10 years and have a guy come in and descale the pipes in the house yearly. I think it was silicates.
I thought about going with a counter top one, but I've heard they're real slow to filter, not sure if that's been your experience. This has a pretty sizeable reservoir it draws from, which is nice.
This is like a 5 chamber thing, so the changing of filters varies. Manual says around 12 months for municipal water and 6 for well is the most frequent.
