Like isn't that kinds weird? A boat for trains. Like a boat-train synthesis. We only really need two kinds of transportation: trains and boats. Airplanes are just air boats.

When it's hard or too costly to build a bridge across a river

train-ferry is neat and all, but what about when its too costly to build a canal?

boat-train: a train that carries your boats across land.

And you even have true boat-train hybrids like this

This is an already implemented good idea.

just this one so far as im aware.

and thats less "trains carrying boats" than i would like, cause theres not like a long line of boats on rails that are all tethered together in a long train, its more boat goes on rail carriage down a hill.

are there any more trainlike boat-trains?

          :bean-think:

edit: by "this one" i mean the type of thing, where its an inclined plane that uses a counterbalance to move boats around, not just like.. that specific one

yes, thats literally what i was talking about. these. not train enough.

its like calling a mine cart a train because it goes on a rail

It also makes sense when you consider it's also a good alternative to a tunnel.
