When we review the fuckups of the plague year, I think one of the biggest will be how crucial resources were diverted to sports almost immediately to keep the U.S. population placid, rather than drastically alter schedules (both on the COllege and Pro levels)
im ok-ish with sports being played. like, keeping people entertained is important, its just the scale of the super bowl, all those ads, the complete lack of self-awareness, and the lack of any acknowledgment of what the fuck is happening in the world. like, the world is ending and they spent millions of dollars on an uber eats commercial starring Wayne's world and cardi b. its just so gross.
