Not to defend the dogs of capitalism, it is possible that the lesser evil argument still stands as long as the other option being considered would also fund genocide, which I believe to be true, so it might indeed be the leaser evil and when exclusively presented with those choices it might be the correct one to pick said lesser evil. The mistake is the thought that picking the lesser evil is a victory, it most certainly is not, picking the lesser evil is just making the current opression slightly, and I mean very slightly, less unbearable. The revolution is and should always be the most important objective, not the only, for we risk becoming ultras, but the most important.
Well sir, have you considered that by opposing the genocide you are making President Biden look bad, which is the same as supporting Donald Trump? Donald Trump would do genocide, so in order to defeat Trump, we must therefore support President Biden's genocide. Checkmate!
My point is not to support trump nor Biden, and if you read carefully the comment I said that it is possible that Democrats are the lesser evil if both would fund genocide. My point is that the consideration of which one is the lesser evil is not an irrelevant endeavour, nor it's invalid because that particular side is very bad, so long as the other is even worse, and furthermore, although the search for the lesser evil isn't irrelevant and I believe should be considered, it is not central at all, to the revolutionary process, it might have a tangential benefit to the lives of the working class in the US but it most likely will not aid in the possibility of the revolution come any closer to reality.
For the most part, I don't think you're going to get an argument on this type of forum against that thought process. The real problem comes down to when the left, like us, complains about what the Democrats are doing and the Democrats' supporters pretty much just pull out the "it's the lesser of two evil" argument and leave it at that.
I don't see a lot of them, including my personal friends and family (so not just internet trolls), who are willing to have a further discussion about what a better system would be like if we could choose to have one.
That assumes binary options. How about the call for ceasefire and not fund any evil? This is the problem with western thinking lately. Everything is pick a side and dump enough money into it to guarantee millions of deaths, definitely don't call for peace.
Yes, and we should still call for these types of solutions, but to suppose US citizens can :vote: for a candidate who would do this is ridiculous.
Just to finish my thought, just look back at the Vietnam war, was not politicians that stopped it, was civil unrest, and it only got to that level of unrest because American soldiers were dying, so they figure out that proxy wars are leas likely to cause that level of backlash, so if you want peace fight for it, because neither side will fight against profit for the good of mankind, if you think they will do something like that voluntarily, comrade you need to study the history of capitalism.
Sure but the reality is that in US elections there are two candidates, and they are decided internally, the bourgeois democracy is a game of marked cards from the beginning, and will always stand with the capitalist interest, and right now genocide is profitable for the US somehow, and therefore they will not stand down, I'm not saying that it wouldnt be better to have it another way, but with what we have there is little that is up to us. This opinion of mine is based on state and revolution by Lenin, the bourgeois democracy is an illusion, its always just about the lesser evil, very little good can be expected of the guard dogs of capitalism.
