I thought “hey, Jodi Picoult is popular!” I thought “Medical ethics and the landscape of illness would make a great backdrop to a novel!”

I want my 12 hours back. What a load of trite inspiration porn horseshit. I could see every plot point coming from 10 miles away.

Blech.

Ok and like, the fact that this lady apparently loves to write about controversial/“hot” morality makes me kinda hate her.

    From her Wikipedia page:

Picoult writes popular fiction which can be characterised as family saga. She frequently centers storylines on a moral dilemma or a procedural drama which pits family members against one another. She is often characterised as an author of chick-lit. Over her writing career, Picoult has covered a wide range of controversial or moral issues, including abortion, the Holocaust, assisted suicide, race relations, eugenics, LGBT rights, fertility issues, religion, the death penalty, and school shootings.

Am I wrong to feel like she’s lowkey appropriating subjects she has no experience with or understanding of and using them to create interest in her otherwise treacly writing? You don’t have to have experienced racial strife to write about it… or do you? Maybe it’s just because she does a bad job that it’s irritating me?
