So :vote: ? I think the problem is the party not the electorate. The teacher strike in WV was very popular. You could probably elect a communist that campaigns on sending coal company execs to the gulag, or at least a militant union member. Unfortunately this isn't ever an option.
My point is that a lot of change will likely come from outside of electoral politics (which is not to say they should be ignored).
I also think that "socialist" and "communist" have such negative conations to people that it would already be a turn off. This is not to mention that caring more about social issues and/or personal bigotries will take precedent.
Additionally, since Cori Bush was the original person named, I think that a lot of these people will refuse to support a fairly outspoken black woman who self-identifies as a socialist.
