Ngl feel like I've waited by whole life for this episode. Infuriating when so called "progressives" use the word so often as well.
“Tax Payers” and “The economy” phrases to remind you who’s life is valued more in society.
I haven't listened to this episode yet but I really feel that title.
Like it makes it sound one deserves health care or whatever primarily because they paid into it, which, although might be an additional reason they deserve it, it skips over the whole part about how a human being who exists in a society that is capable of providing everyone with health care absolutely deserves to be provided said health care, and to instead let them die because they can't personally afford it would be absolutely monstrous.
You're spot on, they unpack the "transactional" nature of the term, among other things, definitely check out the episode.
Great episode! Excited to check out the work of the guest and the academic org they're a part of. Seems super interesting.
It's the Law and Political Economy Project, for those who want to see more like myself.
